Precision CNC Machining: Professional Guide to Production Steps

We are continuing our series outlining some of the basic steps in the precision CNC machining process.  Our previous article discussed the importance of finalizing the prototype and selecting the right materials to meet the specifications and objectives of the final job.  Today, we will look at two more steps we take with our prototypes to production manufacturing and contract manufacturing projects.

Precision CNC Machining Process

Once the prototype is perfected and the materials are selected, it is time to begin the actual precision CNC machining process.  This will be conducted by a qualified machine shop professional who will program, adjust, and monitor the equipment as the job is being produced. The process may require the use of one or more machines and may include CNC milling, CNC turning, small part machining, close tolerance machining, laser engraving, or laser cutting.

Finishing

Finishing is the final step in the precision CNC machining process. There are numerous finishing options that can be used for parts and components.
