Olympia V40F/60 VTC: Precision Hard Turning & Flexible Manufacturing Solution
The Olympia V40F/60 vertical turning center (VTC) features a 42"-diameter table with a maximum swing of 60", a working height of 40", an 80-hp continuous duty motor and a 12-tool ATC with a rotary carousel that is driven by a hydraulic motor and positively located by a taper pin for each location. This VTC is suited for hard turning and flexible manufacturing operations that encompass aerospace, automotive, power generation, medical device and other large, round, part-turning applications. The machine has a box-shaped, well-ribbed casting that is secured on the top of the column. The X-axis servodrive motor drives a 3.15" pre-loaded ballscrew via a timing belt with a 2:1 ratio. The ram head moves along the hardened box ways (44 HRC on the front and 59 HRC on the top and back) of the cross rail. Standard are a Fanuc 18i-TA CNC system and AC table and feed motors with digital drives. Features include an axis feed rate of 0 to 200 ipm (rapid to 400 ipm); linear positioning accuracy of ±0.0003/60"; repeatability of ±0.00015"; and table speeds from 1 to 650 rpm. A live tool and C-axis control version is available, as is a twin-ram, high-production version.
