Yama Seiki GLS-1500: High-Performance CNC Turning Center
Goodway’s GLS-1500 series CNC turning center, available from Yama Seiki, features a 30-degree slant-bed casting design said to provide smoother chip disposal and easier operator access. According to Yama Seiki, the high speed turning center is well-suited for high-production turning with its one-piece, heavily ribbed and thermally balanced Meehanite bed. The slant bed design provides additional support for the headstock, turret and tailstock, creating rigidity for long-term, high-precision turning and efficient chip removal, the company says. Fully enclosed splashguards keep chips and coolant contained for a safer, cleaner working environment. An automatic lubrication system delivers metered amounts of lubrication to the slideways, ballscrews and other components. Distribution is automatically shut off during idling to prevent waste. A 10- or 12-station turret provides a 0.2-sec. indexing time with a high speed servomotor indexing system, the company says. The 10-station turret clears 8" diameter workholding devices without interference, while the 12-station turret can perform milling, drilling, tapping and turning operations.
