Comprehensive Winterization Guide for Compressed Air Systems – Final Part
Today is the third and final post in our series on winterizing your compressed air system. Missed the first two installments? Check out part 1 and part 2 for the full story on getting your compressors ready for winter.
Recover heat to see savings
A great way to save money on your system during the winter is investing in a heat recovery system. In the best conditions, up to 90 percent of compressor heat byproduct can be captured and reused for various plant activities. During the winter, these activities can include boiler room heat and general facility heating.
Heat recovery systems can offset costs of separately producing hot water for washrooms, equipment cleaning, or other sanitation purposes, or the costs of heating workspaces, warehouses or loading docks.
Many local utility providers offer rebates that help operators offset the initial capital cost of heat recovery equipment. These incentives, combined with the ultimate energy savings, make heat recovery systems a useful investment, especially in the winter when heating costs tend to increase.
Winterize your system for optimal performance
Winterizing your system is a simple way to ensure your system remains efficient throughout the chilly season. But don’t let it sneak up on you — start winterizing your system today so you’re fully prepared when the temperatures drop. By addressing maintenance issues, weatherizing your compressed air system and facility and investing in a heat recovery system, your facility is sure to have optimal uptime and efficiency.
