Pixus Launches Horizontal‑Mount OpenVPX Chassis for Compact, High‑Performance Systems

Pixus Technologies, a recognized leader in high‑performance embedded systems, today unveiled a series of OpenVPX enclosures designed for horizontal mounting. This innovative layout conserves rack height, making it ideal for compact systems with limited slot counts. The flagship 2‑U chassis—codename EUR19VPX—supports dual 6‑U boards, four 3‑U boards, or a flexible mix of both. Cooling is achieved through a front‑to‑rear airflow path, with standard front‑loaded board placement and optional rear‑loading configurations. Future releases will add 1‑U, 3‑U, and 4‑U variants.

The EUR19VPX 2‑U chassis incorporates an OpenVPX backplane that operates at PCIe Gen3 speeds as a standard. Clients can request higher‑speed backplanes and VITA 66/67 connector options. Power is versatile, accommodating either pluggable VITA 62 power supplies or a fixed modular VPX PSU. Specialty card guides for conduction‑cooled modules can also be integrated.

In addition to the EUR19VPX line, Pixus offers OpenVPX chassis in rugged rackmount, ATR, test/development, HOST/SOSA, and high‑CFM RiCool configurations. The company also supports a range of other backplane architectures—including MicroTCA, AdvancedTCA, cPCI Serial, and legacy VME/cPCI—ensuring compatibility across diverse embedded ecosystems.
