T-Mobile Teams Up with Tech Partners to Boost Workplace Safety Against Covid-19
They’ve joined forces with two companies to provide 4G LTE connectivity for safety technologies designed to monitor physical distancing and check for Covid-19 symptoms.
With no end in sight to the COVID-19 pandemic, work and public environment safety is a top priority. T-Mobile announced two new partnerships that will provide 4G LTE technology to support innovative, safety technologies designed to:
- Detect Covid-19 and flu-like disease symptoms
- Ensure proper social distancing
PIMMAP Contactless Temperature Monitor
Designed for use in crowded or confined spaces — like schools, hospitals, movie theaters, and train stations — this contactless 8-inch high-def tablet checks temperatures and scans for signs of fatigue, watery eyes, and other flu-like symptoms. Individuals stand in front of the screen for a one-second scan. The venues use the data to admit or refuse entry.

“We are excited to work with T-Mobile to wirelessly connect our PIMMAP solution – an idea born out of today’s current situation,” says PIMMAP president Anthony Kory. The M10i, which uses a proprietary algorithm, produces actionable insights to guide business decisions.

Partnering with Guardhat
“The role of wireless connectivity from T-Mobile is an important one for the Guardhat solution,” said Kaushik Sarkar, Vice President and Head of Sales North America at Guardhat.
T-Mobile will provide connectivity solutions for Guardhat’s wearables and sensor-driven hard hats. The company’s technology ecosystem uses the IoT to help keep employees safe by using sensors to locate individuals or machinery and communicating information about safety conditions in real time.
The hats include technology that monitors social distancing and alerts workers if someone moves within six feet of them.
“Network reliability and broadband coverage from T-Mobile is a pivotal addition to our solution and allows us to expand our services,” says Sakar.
