AI-Driven Robotics: Cutting-Edge Intelligent Machines
One of the fields most related to Artificial Intelligence is robotics. The combination of the learning ability of Artificial Intelligence with the ability of robots to interact with their environment allows the development of systems with a large number of applications, from robots for leisure, to the completion of tasks that until now could only be made by people.
Below, we show you some of the most famous robots with Artificial Intelligence and the most curious applications.
Robotic Hand for Rubik’s Cube
This robotic arm developed by Google is capable of solving a Rubik’s cube with one hand. Unlike other similar robots, in this case, the robot has learned to solve the cube from 0 without anyone has taught him even how it should be handled, it has been the robot itself that has learned to manipulate the cube and solve it at trial and error base.
The robot uses two neural networks that have learned how to manipulate the cube and how to overcome the possible obstacles that can be put on it. The robot is able to solve the cube in 60% of cases and only in 20% in cases of maximum difficulty. Although it has not yet reached perfection, it has obtained very promising results.
Atlas
Atlas is a robot developed by Boston Dynamics for performing rescue tasks. The first prototype was presented in 2013, at that time I could barely walk. Through its Artificial Intelligence system this robot has learned as time went by to perform different physical activities. Currently Atlas has been able to learn not only to walk, but is also able to jump, avoid obstacles, load objects and even climb stairs.
Sophia
Much can be said about this robot that is already known throughout the world for the various interviews it has conducted in the media. Developed by Hanson Robotics, this robot is able to imitate human behavior and interact with people reaching conversations. For this, he uses computer vision systems that allow him to look into the eyes of the people he speaks with, he also uses information of search systems to answer different questions, this information is also used to perform a learning that allows him make more complex answers in future conversations. Additionally, this robot analyze the information found to modify its facial expressions based on what you are saying.
Leaving aside the famous (and very mediatics) robots, we have the industrial and / or collaborative robots with Artificial Intelligence.
These are systems based on Neural Networks and Deep Learning, which despite not having such a striking appearance as the previous three, are able to learn.
As you can see, the use of robots equipped with Artificial Intelligence is a field in full expansion with which you can reach a large number of applications of any kind, from leisure to complex situations that require high precision. At present, this is a great field of study that does not stop evolving and in which more complex possibilities are explored, such as, for example, its use in surgical operations. No doubt in the following years we will see how the use of these robots increases, as well as their field of application.
