Section 179 Deduction & Bonus Depreciation

The Federal Section 179 tax deduction allows businesses to immediately deduct up to $500,000 of qualified capital spent on the purchase of new or used equipment up to $2 million. After $2 million, the deduction is phased out dollar for dollar up to $2.5 million.

This deduction applies to all new and used CNC machines ready and to be placed into service by Dec. 31, 2017.

In 2017, the cost of new equipment that is purchased and ready to be placed into service by Dec. 31 also qualifies for 50% bonus depreciation! There are NO LIMITS on the qualifying amount.

However, in 2018 the allowed bonus depreciation will drop to 40%. That 10% difference could mean thousands of dollars for your business.
