Precision Slant-Bed Turning Centers for High-Accuracy Machining
Johnford’s Super Lathe (SL) series is comprised of small- to medium-sized machines with chuck sizes ranging from 6" to 21" and bed lengths as large as 100". Standard features include a chip conveyor, programmable hydraulic tailstock, a minimum of 12 tool turrets and a Fanuc or Siemens CNC control system.
The 45-degree machine beds are constructed from Meehanite cast iron. All of the guideways are box ways with Turcite B. To optimize rigidity and accuracy, the spindle is mounted on double-row roller bearings, along with angular contact ball bearings. The quill inner and outer lining is precision-ground to fit the spindle, thus promoting concentricity.
Optional C-axis and Y-axis functions are available. The turning centers may be used in conjunction with the SL-300 bar feeder. Weighing 8,800 lbs, the bar feeder features 40-mm pretensioned ballscrews; 15.7" swing over bed; 13" swing over carriage; and three spindle options.
