Mitsubishi Electric C80 Series: CNC-Optimized CPU Boosts Automation Platform Performance
Mitsubishi Electric Automation’s C80 series CNC enables increased productivity and lower cycle times for the company’s Melsec iQ-R automation platform. The rack-based C80 features a CNC-dedicated CPU to maximize the control’s performance.
The system’s CNC functions and drive units promote high-speed, accurate machining and its high-speed system bus provides large-capacity data communication, resulting in increased productivity and reduced cycle times.
According to the company, the system is designed especially for rotary dial machines, production machines using multiple processes and automotive transfer lines. Benefits include improved productivity, flexible system configuration, user-friendly functionality, low maintenance and safety measures compliant with global standards.
The system enables users to control all CNC CPUs on a PLC rack. Three CPUs control up to 21 system components and 48 axes for high-axis-count applications. In addition, the system can communicate with any module that can be used in a rack-based solution.
