From High School Counselor to Manufacturing Leader: Amanda Florenca’s Journey at AccuRounds

A high‑school guidance counselor set me on the path to a thriving manufacturing career. She helped me secure a paid externship at a local children’s outerwear manufacturer.

I started as an administrative assistant and quickly transitioned to customer service. By graduation I was assisting a production coordinator, watching ideas evolve into designs, raw materials be sourced, and teamwork bring a finished product to life. The end‑to‑end process fascinated me, and I even traveled to the Dominican Republic to observe international manufacturing efficiencies.

My transferable skills landed me at AccuRounds, a precision‑machining company in Avon, Massachusetts. During my interview and facility tour I sensed a culture that matched my values. AccuRounds’ guiding mantra, “GET IT” (gratitude, excellence, team first, initiative, trust), resonated deeply.

I joined AccuRounds as an inside account representative in 2014. I quickly proved my ability to deliver top‑notch service to one of the company’s most demanding clients.

My responsibilities grew to include internal auditing and social‑media management. In 2021 I became AccuRounds’ inaugural Lifelong Learning University (ALLU) training coordinator, overseeing employee development, onboarding, and Lean 5S initiatives.

I also succeeded a 40‑year veteran as the quality‑management representative. I led a project that streamlined ISO documentation without altering core processes, driving continuous improvement and enhancing compliance. My efforts earned a promotion to quality coordinator.

Beyond the factory floor, I mentor youth on career pathways. Sharing my journey—technical success without a vocational school—helps inspire the next generation.

Manufacturing is more than a job for me; it’s a lifelong growth path. From high school to AccuRounds, I’ve learned the value of curiosity, collaboration, and resilience. I continue to champion that it’s okay not to have all the answers early on, while staying passionate about every new challenge.
