VersaBuilt CNC Lathe Automation: Rapid, Flexible High‑Mix Production with Universal Robots UR10e
The VersaBuilt CNC lathe automation system for Universal Robots is designed to make high-mix automation easy and flexible. Combined with Universal Robots’ UR10e robot, the system is said to have everything needed to successfully automate a CNC lathe.
All components of the system are pre-integrated and designed to work together. Starting with basic hand tools, it is said the system can be installed and processing parts in a day.
Included in the system is the VersaBuilt System Controller (VSC), which is easy-to-use software designed for automation, the company says. All robot motion is preprogrammed, enabling deployment in hours rather than weeks. Users can simply enter part dimensions and press “cycle start.”
The system’s dual-headed gripper is said to increase processing efficiency by enabling a completed part to be removed and replaced with raw material in a single motion. Replaceable gripper fingers are said to enable the processing of almost any part shape.
