Strategic Acquisitions Boost In-Mold Labeling and Packaging Automation
Recent acquisitions signal a consolidation wave in the in‑mold labeling (IML) and packaging automation sectors.
- CBW Automation, headquartered in Ft. Collins, Colo., has joined forces with H. Müller‑Fabrique de Moules SA as part of the newly formed Mold & Robotics Group in Switzerland. CBW is renowned for its robotics and automation solutions that streamline IML operations and container handling—from takeout, orientation, and assembly to stacking and packing. Müller is a Swiss leader in injection molds and robotics for packaging IML, takeout, assembly, quality inspection, and stacking/packing.
- Verstraete IML, a leading Dutch supplier of in‑mold labels, has been acquired by Multi‑Color Corp. in Batavia, Ohio. The division was previously owned by Constantia Flexibles, an Austrian packaging producer. Multi‑Color is a global label printer and one of the largest in the industry. Verstraete plans to open its first U.S. production facility at a Multi‑Color location in the greater Cincinnati area by the second quarter.
