Although many precision CNC machining processes are much safer than manual machine shop work, they can still pose a threat if precautions are not taken. The machinists at JW Machine are highly skilled and trained.  They have the knowledge and expertise to understand the importance of ensuring the safety of all staff and protecting the integrity of the products we produce for our customers. There are standard safety precautions that need to be taken when working on any contract manufacturing or prototypes to production manufacturing project. Factors such as the raw materials and the machine shop processes being used (i.e., laser cutting, laser engraving, milling turning, small part machining, close tolerance machining, etc.) drive the safety protocols.  Let’s take a closer look:

Clothing & Protection

All of our staff are required to wear proper clothing, safety glasses, and appropriate footwear when on the machine shop floor and while operating any precision CNC machining equipment.  We do not allow loose fit or flammable clothing, open-toed shoes, or jewelry.

Proper Training

Our machinists receive numerous hours of training on the equipment they use.  They know how to operate, program, calibrate, and pause/stop each machine.  We also make sure all of our staff and machinists are healthy, alert, and feeling well before operating any machine shop equipment.
