Chevalier FBL-360L Slant-Bed Lathe: Precision & Vibration-Resistant Performance
Chevalier’s FBL-360L slant-bed lathe is said to provide a flexible, accurate solution for mixed-volume, short-run or dedicated high-volume applications. Capable of machining bars ranging to 4.5" in diameter, the lathe features a 45-degree slant bed, a rigid boxway structure and a programmable tailstock. The lathe offers a 15" chuck, 30.3" maximum swing, 22.4" maximum turning diameter and 80" maximum turning length.
A ribbed Meehanite cast iron mono-block casting features hardened and ground hand-scraped slideways to resist deflection and vibration. The lathe offers speeds ranging to 2,500 rpm, X- and Z-axis travels ranging from 12.6" to 78", and rapid traverse rates ranging to 708 ipm. Positioning accuracy is ±0.0002" in the X and Z axes, while repeatability is ±0.0001". It is powered by a 35-hp, AC digital spindle motor with a two-speed gearbox and 12" hydraulic chuck producing 735 foot-pounds of torque at lower rpm. The 10-station servo-indexing turret provides 0.5 sec. tool indexing time. The OD shank is 11/4", and the boring bar holds up to 2.5". A large curved coupling holds the carousel, which is clamped by hydraulic pressure. The lathe is equipped with a 12" three-jaw hydraulic chuck, oil skimmer, chip conveyor and Renishaw tool setter.
