QuickLogic Launches Australis: Automated eFPGA IP Generator for Rapid, Custom ASIC Prototyping

QuickLogic Corporation has introduced Australis, a pioneering tool that automates the creation of custom‑parameterized embedded FPGA (eFPGA) intellectual property. The generator enables rapid prototyping of tailor‑made FPGA architectures directly within ASIC and SoC designs.

Built on the open‑source OpenFPGA framework, Australis incorporates QuickLogic’s industry‑proven performance, power and area (PPA) optimization techniques. According to the company, the tool can produce fully customized eFPGA IP in as little as a few days.

Manufacturing constraints and the relentless pace of Moore’s Law have pushed system developers to design domain‑specific solutions. Traditional approaches are often costly, time‑consuming and risky. By automating eFPGA generation, Australis eliminates the need for hand‑crafted, process‑node‑specific IP, giving developers a fast, low‑cost path to high‑performance silicon.

Australis extends the OpenFPGA IP generator with QuickLogic‑specific features, rigorous testing and full support required for commercially viable eFPGA IP. The result is a turnkey solution that can be integrated seamlessly into any ASIC/SoC workflow.

With embedded FPGA flexibility, developers can address evolving market demands, support new standards, protect intellectual property, accelerate AI/ML workloads, or produce diverse product variants for fragmented markets—all while using a single silicon fabric.
