Cloud Notify: How to Turn Machine Data into Real‑Time Alarms and Notifications (Video Guide)

Stay Ahead of Machine Downtime with Real‑Time Alarms

Unexpected machine failures can cripple production and inflate costs for both you and your customers. With IXON Cloud’s Cloud Notify, you receive instant alerts whenever a data point reaches a critical threshold, allowing your team to act before a small hiccup turns into a costly outage.

Cloud Notify pulls data directly from PLCs, HMIs, robots, and sensors via industry‑standard protocols—Modbus TCP, OPC‑UA, Siemens S7, MELSEC, Ethernet/IP, and BACnet—so you can configure alarms, triggers, and notifications without writing a single line of code. For teams that need more advanced incident handling, Cloud Notify can automatically trigger services such as PagerDuty, SMS, or even log events in Google Sheets.

Hi again, I’m Job from IXON. Today I’ll walk you through setting up machine alarms and notifications with Cloud Notify.

Step 1: Create Alarms

Using the IXON Cloud portal, add an alarm for any PLC, robot, or sensor. Select the variable, assign a priority level, and define the trigger condition. You can even attach an action plan so your service engineers or customers know exactly what steps to take when an alarm fires.

Step 2: Configure Alarm Receivers

Determine who receives each alert. In the receivers section, assign low, medium, and high priority notifications to the appropriate users. They’ll get an email or push notification the moment an alarm is triggered.

Beyond emails, you can route alarms to third‑party services via webhooks—think PagerDuty for on‑call escalation or SMS for instant alerts. You can also log events directly into Google Sheets for reporting and trend analysis.

That’s how you set up machine alarms with Cloud Notify—all managed from a clean, web‑based interface.
