EN 10025-5 Grade S355J2WP – Normalized, Weather‑Resistant Steel for Structural and Bridge Applications

The weather resistant steel S355J2WP with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance (by generation of an conversion coating) has a minimum yield strength of 355 N/mm². It is applicated for welded, screwed and riveted constructions, e.g. structural engineering, bridge building, tank construction, exhaust systems, vehicle construction, toolbuilding. The grid rate have to considered in the dimensioning process. An conventional surface protection is recommend at polluted air and necessary at long-time water wetting, constant wetness or close to the sea. Unweathered areas with condensate generation have to be adequate ventilated. Before welding the coating have to be removed in a distance of 10 - 20 mm from the welding edge. With increasing thickness, strength and carbon equivalent the occurence of cold cracks in the welding zone is possible. The recommendation of the EURONORM Information No. 2 (EN 1011-2) have to considered. Because of the high amount of P special precautions have to take.
