UNS C63000 (AMS 4640) – Premium Nickel–Aluminum Bronze Alloy

2.0966 (CuAl10Ni5Fe4) most popular American grade of nickel aluminum bronze with a chemical composition of approximately 10% aluminium, 5% nickel and 3% iron, is readily hot worked and offers a good machinability. The alloy displays good erosion and cavitation resistance in seawater and brackish water, together with a good resistance to dilute sulphuric, hydrochloric and non-oxidising acids. Columbia Metals stocks C63000 in the HR50 condition to meet the requirements of AMS4640. It shows the following features and properties:

  • Very good strength and toughness
  • High resistance to corrosion and erosion
  • Retention of properties at cryogenic temperatures
  • Excellent resistance to shock, wear and abrasion
  • Spark resistance
  • Good fabrication and welding properties
  • Retention of properties at cryogenic temperatures
