Hahn Group Acquires Rethink Robotics’ Patents and Cobots
Hahn Group, a leading German robotics and automation conglomerate, has expanded its portfolio to include collaborative robots (cobots). In October, the company acquired all patents and trademarks of Rethink Robotics—a Cambridge, Massachusetts‑based pioneer known for its Baxter and Sawyer cobots—along with the Intera 5 programming platform. Rethink ceased operations on Oct. 3 after financial challenges, but Hahn had already held a stake and was distributing its cobots in Germany. The newly formed Hahn Plastics Automation now integrates Waldorf Technik and GeKu (Germany) and Wemo (Sweden). Hahn’s U.S. robotics arm, headquartered in Hebron, Ky., plans to relocate to New England, as noted in the September NPE report on robotics.
