O‑Cut: Mobile Robot Cell for Precise Gate Cutting—No Programming Needed

Complete Solution Robotics of Loveland, Colorado, introduces the O‑Cut—a compact, cost‑effective robot cell that delivers precision gate cutting without any programming. Built around a six‑axis Fanuc robot and a specialized nipper, the O‑Cut can be transported to any injection‑molding machine and assembled in just minutes, says founder and owner Michael Olson.

In operation, the robot picks up a sprue and its attached part(s) from a sprue picker, then positions them for the nipper. Once cut, the parts drop into a bin (or tray) while the remaining sprue is automatically fed into a grinder. A menu‑driven recipe on the touchscreen controls the entire sequence.

Programming is replaced by a simple jog‑based teaching method: each axis is positioned manually, then refined with numeric entries down to 0.001‑mm increments. The resulting recipe can be saved, recalled, or shared across multiple O‑Cut units, enabling consistent repeatability of ±0.02 mm. Operators can relocate the cell, adjust positions, or modify cut sequences on the fly, and the system supports multiple cuts per cycle.

Key specifications include a 4‑kg payload, 0.001‑mm positional accuracy, and hydraulic feet that are hand‑cranked for quick leveling. In its standard configuration, the customer supplies the sprue grinder, nippers, and part bin; optional upgrades add a grinder and a conveyor with indexing boxes or trays for the cut parts. The O‑Cut retail price is $50,000, excluding the nippers and grinder.
