KraussMaffei Debuts China‑Made All‑Electric Injection Molds, Twin‑Screw Extruders, and Robotics at Chinaplas 2019

During the pre‑show media day at Chinaplas, Matthias Sieverding, President of Extrusion Technology at KraussMaffei, highlighted the company’s confidence in China’s dual role as a key consumer and manufacturing hub for its high‑performance machinery.

After ChemChina’s acquisition in 2016, KraussMaffei has operated a dedicated plant in Haiyan since 2005, which has undergone several expansions. The upcoming Jiaxing factory, slated for completion in 2020, will double the company’s local production capacity.

China‑Made All‑Electric Injection Molding Machines – PX Agile Line

At Chinaplas, KraussMaffei unveiled the PX Agile line of all‑electric injection moulders, combining German engineering with Chinese manufacturing precision. The series is available in 80‑ton and 160‑ton clamping forces (PX Agile 80 and PX Agile 160). An on‑hand inventory program guarantees delivery of fully‑optioned presses within four to six weeks. Flexible purchasing options include free trials, short‑term and long‑term leasing.

During the demonstration, a PX Agile 80 equipped with RocTool’s induction tool‑heating system produced a high‑detail enclosure, showcasing the rapid cavity‑heating capability. The PX Agile 160, in turn, molded polypropylene pipette tips from a 32‑cavity mold.

Both machines feature the LRX Agile linear robot, manufactured at the same facility. The LRX line offers seven size variants and three programming levels, accelerating set‑up times by up to 30 % compared with conventional solutions.

New Twin‑Screw Compounder – ZE GP Agile Extruder

KraussMaffei’s Berstorff division launched the ZE GP Agile compounding extruder, also produced in Haiyan. The extruder is available in three screw diameters—52 mm, 62 mm and 77 mm—accommodating a range of production volumes. Two water‑cooled motors, rated for 600 or 900 rpm, drive the screw. Cooling is achieved through water‑injection, while electric cartridge units provide precise heating.

These innovations underscore KraussMaffei’s commitment to delivering highly efficient, flexible, and locally supported solutions for the Chinese market.
