Choosing the Right Drawer Slides for Custom Rackmount Enclosures

Hey everyone, Cody from Protocase here with another Proto Tech Tip. Today, we’re going to talk about slides for your rackmount chassis.

We stock five different sizes varying in lengths and load rating. Depending on what you’re carrying inside of your enclosure, we can recommend a size for you.

The slides we’re looking at today are 24 inches long with 26 inches of travel. These are rated for 110 pounds per pair. Now, these are more than the heavy duty side of things, so they may be overkill for what you’re trying to accomplish with your rackmount.

All slides mount to the left and right side of your rackmount chassis by way of 8’32 self-clinching fasteners that we install.

Once the slides are fastened to your chassis, we can mount these inside of a rack server to allow you to slide your rackmount in and out without physically removing it. If you are unsure about a fit for your rackmount, our engineering team is able to help you decide.
