Grand Prairie Independent School District (GPISD) located near Dallas, Texas, serves more than 29,000 students on 38 campuses. This student population is projected to grow substantially in the future. Given this growth, three years ago, Dianna L. Drew, Director of Logistics & Documents Services for GPISD, improved GPISD’s logistics issues with a computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
As Drew began her work initially, she had identified multiple challenges with logistics including the need to control assets and run ticket systems through preventive maintenance. Her team then focused on moving from reactive to proactive asset management with a new software system.
After a year researching software, Drew and the GPISD team chose the Enterprise subscription level of eMaint™ computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). The simplicity of the Enterprise eMaint interface supported adoption by everyone.
With the software, GPISD can now access inventory details in real time. The previous system showed 10,000 inventory line items with multiple SKUs for the same part. After eMaint was in place, Drew could see that there were only 2,987 items in inventory.
In addition to inventory control, the software has helped GPISD save in time and subscription costs, reduce work tickets and capture labor costs.
