Fiix Achieves B Corp Certification: A Commitment to People, Planet, and Profit

By Katie Allen, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Fiix

“Great companies work to make money, of course, but in their choices of how to do so, they think about building enduring institutions. They invest in the future while being aware of the need to build people and society,” wrote Rosabeth Moss Kanter, a Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, in the November 2011 issue of the Harvard Business Review.

Six years later, that insight is more relevant than ever. Businesses now serve as a pivotal force in society, shaping the lives of employees, partners, customers, and communities alike.

At Fiix, our mission has always been to harness that influence to drive authentic social and environmental progress. A year and a half ago, we formalized corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a core pillar of our operations.

Since then, CSR has become woven into our DNA, guiding a triple‑bottom‑line focus on people, planet, and profit. By sharing our journey openly, we hope to inspire other companies—particularly in tech—to join this movement and collectively tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation.

To benchmark our progress and identify areas for improvement, we pursued B Corporation certification. Fiix officially became a certified B Corp in July.

What Exactly Is a B Corporation?

B Corp is a third‑party certification for for‑profit businesses that use their resources to solve social and environmental problems. Think of it as LEED certification for every facet of a company: ownership diversity, environmental footprint, employee wages and benefits, charitable giving, and community engagement.

According to the B Lab website, “Individually, B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability, and aspire to use the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems.”

Achieving this status requires a rigorous assessment and a set of stringent standards across social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. We evaluated our impact on employees, communities, the environment, and customers beyond the financial bottom line.

Why Fiix Became a B Corporation

Profit alone no longer defines success. Conversations around inclusivity and sustainability now dominate boardrooms worldwide as companies adapt to an unpredictable future.

Workforce shifts fuel these discussions. By 2025, 75% of the workforce will be millennials—an audience that seeks purpose beyond a paycheck. Employers that deliver meaningful work attract and retain top talent, enhance public perception, strengthen investor relations, boost employee engagement, and ultimately drive revenue.

We chose a proactive, deliberate approach to address critical societal issues, and B Corp provides a robust framework to measure our progress. The certification signals that we are leveraging business as a force for good, reshaping how companies care for employees, communities, and the planet.

Although we are just beginning this journey, we invite others to join us. Together, our collective actions can create a lasting, measurable positive impact.
