EPLAN’s New Data Portal: Faster, Smarter Component Search
Engineering teams often face delays when locating the right product data. The latest release of the EPLAN Data Portal and Platform eliminates that bottleneck, delivering a refreshed interface and smarter search capabilities that let users find and download component data in record time.
The portal now offers expanded search parameters and refined algorithms, so engineers can zero in on exactly the parts they need. Coupled with the integration of Lenze’s product configurator, selecting the ideal device becomes a streamlined, intuitive process.
Configurators Simplify Product Selection
Lenze’s Director of Team Processes and Data, Bernd Spiegel, explains: "Integrating our product configurator directly into the EPLAN Platform means customers can locate the device they need almost instantly. Rather than wading through long lists, they receive precisely the variants that match their specifications. For Lenze, this partnership also simplifies data maintenance for our many product variants, keeping the configurator up to date in EPLAN Electric P8 without duplicating effort for each variant."
For example, a user looking for a frequency inverter can use the Lenze Easy Product Finder. By selecting key attributes—rated power, supply network type, and fieldbus network—the user identifies a suitable i550 series device in just a few clicks. Once chosen, the associated EPLAN data is generated in the detail view and can be imported directly into the CAE solution’s device management.

Nearly Three Million Data Sets Await Discovery
Over one-third of the data on the portal already conforms to the new, high‑quality EPLAN Data Standard. EPLAN aims to double that share—reaching 50% of all device data by the end of 2022—encouraging manufacturers to adopt 100% digital data solutions.
Leading industry players such as Chint (China), IFM, Pilz, Rittal, SMC (Europe), Numatics (USA), and Omron (Japan) are championing this shift. Pilz’s Vice President of Customer Support International, Arndt Christ, highlights the benefits: "By aligning our product macros with the EPLAN Data Standard, we simplify macro integration, enhance data networking between 2D and 3D models, reduce wiring errors, and deliver significant time savings. The functional template is a testament to the quality we expect in our data and solidifies our partnership with EPLAN for future innovation."

EPLAN Director of Cloud Business Master Data, Timm Hauschke, states: "The demand for high‑quality data from manufacturers aligns perfectly with our users’ needs. Comprehensive, integrated data forms the foundation of the digital twin, providing end‑to‑end information from design engineering to manufacturing. With the EPLAN Data Standard, we are on track to make device data 100% digital, establishing the ideal base for highly efficient engineering processes worldwide."
