Android 11 Now Available on Pepperl+Fuchs Smart‑Ex® 02 Intrinsically Safe Smartphone

Smart‑Ex® 02 users can now update their intrinsically safe smartphone to Android 11 with a quick, one‑tap process. The upgrade unlocks advanced voice control, enhanced app‑level permissions for camera, microphone, and location, and a unified interface for managing connected devices. Security and data‑protection updates are delivered through the Google Play Store, giving you full control over when and how updates are applied.

Modern functions in a robust, user‑friendly design

The Smart‑Ex® 02 proves that intrinsic safety, cutting‑edge functionality, and ergonomic design can coexist. It offers 4G/LTE connectivity, a 5‑inch Gorilla‑glass display that resists impact and scratches, and is fully operable with gloves. With an operating temperature range of –20 °C to +60 °C, it thrives in extreme environments. A removable 4400 mAh battery supplies 12 hours of reliable runtime.

A versatile accessory kit—including belt clip, hand strap, chargers, and a docking station—ensures easy transport, attachment, and charging. The phone also supports a wide range of peripherals such as headsets, microphones, scanners, and Bluetooth beacons.

Update securely – when it suits you

The device complies with the Android Enterprise Recommendation (AER) standard, guaranteeing that Pepperl+Fuchs can provide the latest operating system and security updates. While the Android 11 update is recommended, users may defer it to test compatibility, involve IT teams, or choose the operating system that best meets operational needs.
