Infineon & TTTech Auto Unveil 2nd-Gen Safety Platform for Level 4/5 Autonomous Driving

Infineon Technologies and TTTech Auto today launched the second generation of their fully integrated automotive‑grade safety platform, combining Infineon’s AURIX TC397XM microcontroller with TTTech Auto’s MotionWise safety software. The solution delivers scalable, end‑to‑end support from Level 2+ through to Level 4 and 5 autonomous driving, enabling faster time‑to‑market, streamlined software integration and validation, and lower overall cost.

The original Infineon AURIX platform and MotionWise were key components of Audi’s zFAS pilot‑driving system, debuting in the Audi A8. TTTech Auto has now re‑engineered MotionWise to fully exploit the enhanced capabilities of the second‑generation AURIX TC397XM. Together, the platform and hardware meet the stringent demands of Level 5 automation.

Built on ASIL‑D certified hardware, the new platform delivers ISO 26262 ASIL‑D‑grade computing performance, a richer peripheral set, and advanced security. MotionWise guarantees fail‑operational behavior, interference‑free operation, and safety‑by‑design across all ASIL levels. Each application runs in a sandboxed environment, ensuring that diverse safety and real‑time requirements can coexist and interoperate, facilitating seamless application integration.

Infineon and TTTech Auto bring decades of joint experience, having partnered with major automakers on long‑term series‑production programs. The first‑generation platform already powers over 25 production models since 2017, proving its reliability. A growing list of customers has adopted the second‑generation solution for their ADAS series‑production lines, with production launches beginning in 2019.
