Infineon Launches TRENCHSTOP Feature IGBT Protected Series for Induction Heating
Infineon Technologies introduces the TRENCHSTOP Feature IGBT Protected Series, specifically engineered for induction heating. Unlike a conventional RC‑H5 reverse‑conduction IGBT, this family incorporates logic functionality and a dedicated driver IC, delivering multiple programmable protection features within a single device. The Protected F Series enhances system reliability while simplifying design and programming for all single‑ended induction heating topologies.
The rapidly expanding induction heating market demands higher performance and greater reliability to safeguard brand reputation against failures. The TRENCHSTOP Feature IGBT Protected Series addresses this need by leveraging the industry’s leading IGBT performance in key parameters such as blocking voltage, static losses, and conduction losses. It also offers integrated protection against over‑voltage, over‑current, and over‑temperature. By embedding these safety functions directly into the device, designers can use less sophisticated microcontrollers, reducing complexity and cost.
The TRENCHSTOP Feature IGBT Protected Series pairs a 20 A / 1350 V RC‑H5 IGBT with a matching gate‑driver IC. Both components are packaged in a single TO‑247 6‑pin module, retaining the same footprint and a single screw hole as a standard TO‑247 3‑ or 4‑pin package. The extra pins enable advanced features such as unique active clamp control, fault‑condition notifications, and a two‑level turn‑on gate‑driving current. Over‑voltage and over‑current thresholds are programmable, allowing customization to meet specific customer requirements.
