Cypress Unveils PSoC 64 Secure MCUs: PSA‑Certified, Arm Cortex‑M, Ready for IoT Security

Cypress Semiconductor has introduced the PSoC 64 Secure microcontrollers, a new generation of Arm Cortex‑M processors engineered to give IoT designers full confidence in their devices’ security. The PSoC 64 line blends a hardened, standards‑based system‑layer security stack with the ultra‑low‑power architecture of the PSoC 6 family.

Key features include an isolated root‑of‑trust that delivers true attestation and provisioning services, a pre‑configured secure execution environment that supports a wide range of IoT platforms, and comprehensive safeguards such as TLS authentication, encrypted secure storage, and secure firmware management. Developers benefit from an integrated RTOS, Cypress ModusToolbox, which seamlessly manages communication between application code and the secure core.

The PSoC 64 Secure MCUs are among the first Arm Cortex‑M devices to achieve Level 1 certification under the Arm Platform Security Architecture (PSA) scheme. They run a secure Trusted Firmware‑M implementation built into the open‑source Arm Mbed OS, and they adhere to PSA’s complete threat models, security analyses, and hardware/firmware specifications. This certification guarantees that designers can deploy the MCUs with confidence in the integrity of their secure applications.

Ideal for cloud‑connected products that must protect user data and support trustworthy firmware updates, the PSoC 64 line is perfect for personal healthcare devices, medical and chronic disease management equipment, and home‑security solutions.
