Dialog Semiconductor Launches SmartBond DA1469x SoCs with Integrated ARM Cortex‑M33 for Advanced BLE Applications

Dialog Semiconductor has announced the SmartBond DA1469x family, its most sophisticated Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) SoC lineup to date. The family comprises four variants tailored for a wide spectrum of wireless products.

Built on Dialog’s proven SmartBond architecture, each DA1469x chip integrates three cores: a high‑performance ARM Cortex‑M33 application processor, an ARM Cortex‑M0+ packet‑engine core, and a Sensor Node Controller (SNC) based on a programmable micro‑DSP. This combination delivers seamless sensing, processing, and communication for complex IoT workloads.

The standout feature is that the DA1469x is the first production microcontroller to embed a dedicated Cortex‑M33 core. Developers now gain the raw horsepower required for demanding use cases such as premium fitness trackers, next‑generation smart‑home hubs, and VR game controllers, while keeping the power envelope tight.

Radio performance has also been pushed forward. The new integrated RF front‑end doubles the range of its predecessor, and the programmable packet engine supports all Bluetooth 5.1 protocols, including the Angle‑of‑Arrival and Angle‑of‑Departure (AoA/AoD) capabilities that enable ultra‑accurate indoor positioning for access control and keyless entry systems.

Power efficiency is handled by a state‑of‑the‑art Power Management Unit (PMU). It delivers three regulated rails and an LDO output, eliminating the need for an external power‑management IC, while autonomously enabling or disabling cores to conserve energy.

Hardware resources are generous: up to 144 DMIPS, 512 kB of RAM, a floating‑point unit, a dedicated crypto engine, and expandable memory. The SoC also offers a suite of value‑add interfaces, including a display driver, audio codecs, USB, a high‑accuracy ADC, haptic drivers for both ERM and LRA motors, and a programmable step‑motor controller.

Dialog’s SmartSnippets software suite provides comprehensive drivers, middleware, and example projects, allowing developers to accelerate time‑to‑market and ensure best‑practice firmware design.

With the SmartBond DA1469x family, manufacturers can create future‑proof, feature‑rich BLE products that meet today’s performance and power‑budget demands.
