Cypress Enhances IoT Security with PSA‑Certified PSoC 64 MCUs

Cypress Enhances IoT Security with PSA‑Certified PSoC 64 MCUs Cypress has unveiled a secure variant of its PSoC 6 microcontroller family, the PSoC 64 MCU, designed to elevate data protection in IoT ecosystems. The chip comes with a fully integrated system‑level security stack that establishes an isolated root‑of‑trust, complete with real‑time attestation and provisioning capabilities.

The PSoC 64 achieves Arm’s Platform Security Architecture (PSA) certification, embedding the Trusted Firmware‑M (TF‑M) framework into the Arm Mbed OS open‑source operating system. This certification framework rigorously covers threat models, security analyses, and both hardware and firmware architecture, ensuring a robust security foundation.

“Building secure IoT devices demands expertise across application, system, and hardware layers,” said Sudhir Gopalswamy, Executive Vice President of Cypress’s Microcontrollers and Connectivity Division. “The PSoC 64 is engineered to remove that complexity so developers can concentrate on product differentiation rather than security engineering.”

Key capabilities include a pre‑configured secure execution environment that supports a variety of IoT platforms, TLS authentication, secure storage, and secure firmware management. The MCU also offers a rich device‑to‑cloud development ecosystem powered by Cypress’s ModusToolbox suite.
