Ingenu Expands IIoT Reach with 72 New Satellites via Phantom Space Partnership
Ingenu, a leading industrial IoT connectivity provider, is strengthening its global coverage after securing a partnership to launch 72 additional satellites.
Based in San Diego, Ingenu serves a broad spectrum of smart infrastructure—including grids, factories, agriculture, cities, mining, oil & gas, and asset logistics.
The satellites, built by Tucson‑based Phantom Space Corporation, are slated for launch in 2023 and will seamlessly integrate with Ingenu’s existing terrestrial IoT network.
Dual‑Mode Connectivity
Ingenu’s terrestrial layer operates on the unlicensed low‑power wide‑area network (LPWAN) band reserved for industrial, scientific and medical use, allowing it to avoid congested spectrum and deliver superior indoor coverage.
While terrestrial LTE offers broad reach, it still falls short in remote farms and offshore installations, creating gaps that can be filled by satellite coverage.
By owning both space and ground infrastructure, Ingenu is uniquely positioned to deliver comprehensive connectivity to enterprises demanding uninterrupted sensor data.
Ingenu’s constellation will be the first publicly available space‑borne network dedicated solely to machine‑to‑machine sensor traffic. It will provide data‑transfer acknowledgments for every upload, ensuring reliable communication between field devices and cloud servers.
