Honeywell Teams with Aereon to Expand IIoT in Oil & Gas

Honeywell is elevating its Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) strategy in the oil and gas sector through a new partnership with Aereon, a leading provider of air‑emission solutions.

The collaboration, announced by Penn Energy, aims to integrate Aereon’s specialized emissions technologies into Honeywell’s Connected Plant platform, enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance for oil‑field operators.

Based in Austin, Texas, Aereon offers a portfolio of combustion and vapor‑recovery products that help firms capture and reduce petroleum emissions from wellheads to distribution terminals.

“Aereon’s deep industry knowledge will complement Honeywell’s data‑consolidation, cybersecurity, and software‑development capabilities,” said Andrew Hird, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Process Solutions’ Digital Transformation business. “Together we can eliminate unplanned shutdowns, maximize output, and streamline supply‑chain operations.”

Aereon’s Expertise Enriches Honeywell’s IIoT Ecosystem

Mark Zyskowski, Senior Global Vice President at Aereon, highlighted the company’s strength: “Our wide array of fit‑for‑purpose combustion and vapor‑recovery solutions is supported by in‑house design, manufacturing, and field‑support expertise.”

Honeywell plans to build a user‑friendly, secure infrastructure that empowers clients to collect, analyze, and act on real‑time data.

Industry analysts project that the IIoT market could contribute $10‑$15 trillion to global GDP over the next two decades, according to GE Research.

Despite this promise, surveys reveal that many manufacturers remain in the planning stage of IIoT adoption, with only 30% of firms actively using connected‑technology solutions.

By combining Aereon’s emissions expertise with Honeywell’s IIoT platform, the partnership seeks to close that gap and unlock tangible value for oil‑and‑gas operators.
