World Economic Forum Launches Industry 4.0 Center at San Francisco’s Presidio
Is this the new "PresiDavos"? The World Economic Forum, renowned for its annual gathering of global leaders in Davos, Switzerland, has inaugurated its Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution at San Francisco’s historic Presidio. This facility is designed to accelerate the development of data‑driven technologies that are reshaping the modern economy.
The center will serve as a collaborative hub where policymakers, city planners, and technology innovators can converge to discuss the emerging tools that will define the workforce of tomorrow.

"The Fourth Industrial Revolution is transforming industries, challenging regulatory frameworks, and redefining human experience," said Murat Sönmez, Managing Board Member and Head of the Center. "We must rapidly develop policy norms and frameworks, and ensure these innovations benefit everyone. That is the mission of the Center, and its work begins today."
The discussion agenda will cover artificial intelligence, national digital policies, cross‑border data flows, drones, autonomous vehicles, environmental technology, and any new breakthroughs emerging from Silicon Valley and other tech ecosystems.
High‑Profile Leaders at the Opening
The inauguration drew top executives, including Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Alibaba co‑founder Jack Ma, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, alongside leaders from Germany, India, the UK, and Turkey.
Other inaugural partners include Kaiser Permanente, Microsoft, Palantir, SAP, Huawei, IDEO, Reliance Industries, and Turkcell.
“Technology companies cannot operate in isolation; we must understand the societal and environmental impacts of our innovations," remarked Marc Benioff. "This global Center will enable us to better grasp our influence on society and to play a constructive role."
The center will also provide policymakers and public figures with deeper insights into cutting‑edge technologies. Many are unaware of how close AI or autonomous vehicles are to mainstream adoption, and the WEF can help clarify timelines, facilitating streamlined and effective policy development.
