M&S Energy customers and schools across South East England will participate in the test.
Powervault sees cost reductions and long‑term savings as a key driver that could bring home energy storage to the UK mainstream market.
“The collaboration we are announcing today with these two household name brands – Renault and M&S – is an important milestone on our journey towards achieving mainstream adoption of home energy storage,” said Joe Warren, Managing Director of Powervault.
“Homeowners and brands are now looking to benefit from the smart power revolution. It’s only a matter of time before a Powervault becomes as common in households as a dishwasher.”
How It Works
Powervault harnesses excess solar generation, storing it in batteries for use during nighttime. It also draws from the grid during off‑peak periods, lowering electricity costs for homes lacking solar panels.
The company forecasts sales of 30,000 Powervault units by 2020, backed by the installation of 842,000 solar panels across the UK in the past five years.
