Hitachi Unveils Comprehensive Back‑to‑Work Safety Portfolio Powered by Lumada Analytics

An over-reliance on manual processes and lack of supply chain visibility has exposed manufacturers to extensive delays during the coronavirus pandemic

Hitachi’s digital infrastructure and solutions arm, Vantara, announced on Thursday an expansion to its manufacturing portfolio, which includes back-to-work safety solutions.

To ensure a safe return to work, Hitachi has configured its Lumada video analytics solutions, providing factory owners with tools to track elevated body temperatures and hand-washing. With thermal scanners and Lidar cameras, Hitachi said workers can be monitored in a non-intrusive way.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is exposing a litany of challenges for manufacturers that highlight how important unlocking data and digital industrial innovation is to the industry’s future,” said James Destro, general manager at Hitachi Vantara.

“With our powerful IT and operational technology (OT) experience, Vantara can uniquely inspire, envision, architect, and accelerate the digital transformation that solves today’s challenges and prepares manufacturers for the challenges of tomorrow.”

In the press release, Hitachi stated an overreliance on manual processes and lack of supply chain visibility has exposed manufacturers to extensive delays during the coronavirus pandemic. With its Lumada Manufacturing Insights solutions, the company said factory managers can optimize supply chain, operations, and receive asset insights and predictive quality assurance.

Hitachi is also extending its industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions as well, which provide factory managers with more predictive and prescriptive insights on equipment effectiveness, operations efficiency, and product quality optimization.
