Silicon Labs Unveils Extensive Automotive‑Grade Timing Suite for Reliable In‑Vehicle Clocking

Silicon Labs has announced the industry’s most comprehensive line of automotive‑grade timing solutions, all AEC‑Q100 qualified. The portfolio includes the Si5332 any‑frequency programmable clock generator, Si5225x PCIe Gen1‑5 clocks, Si5325x PCIe buffers, and Si5335x fan‑out clock buffers. These devices are engineered to simplify clock‑tree design, reduce failure points, boost reliability, and optimize high‑speed serial data transfer across modern in‑vehicle systems.

The Si5332 employs Silicon Labs’ proven MultiSynth technology to deliver any‑frequency, any‑output clock synthesis with over 60 % lower jitter than competing automotive clocks. It supports up to eight independent outputs, selectable signal formats (LVDS, LVPECL, HCSL, LVCMOS), and independent 1.8‑3.3 V VDDO levels. The on‑chip synthesis, distribution, and level‑translation enable a single‑IC clock‑tree solution that interfaces directly with FPGAs, ASICs, Ethernet switches/PHYs, processors, GPUs, SoCs, PCIe Gen1‑5, and NVLink SerDes.

Both the Si5332 generators and Si5335x buffers are fully configurable through Silicon Labs’ flexible ClockBuilder Pro software. Engineers can tailor each device to exact clock‑tree requirements, achieving optimal performance and minimizing board space. Samples are available in less than two weeks, allowing rapid prototyping and accelerated time‑to‑market.
