Memfault & Silicon Labs Team Up to Deliver Cloud‑Based IoT Diagnostics & OTA Updates
Memfault, a leading cloud‑based diagnostics provider for embedded systems, has joined forces with Silicon Labs to launch an end‑to‑end diagnostics platform for the company’s EFR32 and EFM32 microcontroller families. The integration gives developers real‑time visibility into device health, accelerates root‑cause analysis, and streamlines OTA firmware deployments.
The partnership empowers advanced MCU‑based applications to mitigate development risks, meet launch timelines, and ship products that can be monitored and continuously improved in the field.
Memfault’s lightweight SDK, embedded directly into device firmware, captures critical metrics and system data. Coupled with a cloud platform that turns that data into actionable insights, engineers can proactively detect anomalies, pinpoint root causes, and deliver fixes via Memfault’s over‑the‑air (OTA) delivery system. Support engineers, firmware developers, and operators all benefit from reduced downtime, lower engineering costs, and on‑schedule releases.
Silicon Labs’ Senior Director for IoT Hardware Platforms, Dev Pradhan, noted, “The connectivity, performance, power efficiency, and feature set of the EFR32 and EFM32 MCUs unlock a wide range of embedded applications. Yet, firmware complexity and device mobility make exhaustive pre‑shipment testing impractical, leading to edge‑case bugs, higher support costs, and brand risk. Memfault’s advanced debugging and monitoring tools go beyond raw logs, allowing our customers to correlate behavior with device state, reproduce issues quickly, and resolve them efficiently.”

Memfault’s cloud‑based platform addresses serviceability challenges through fleet observability, remote debugging, and OTA firmware management. Engineers gain detailed visibility into device performance and fleet‑level behaviors from anywhere in the world, as if a local debugger were attached, enabling proactive issue identification and resolution from a single, cohesive interface.
“We’re excited to partner with Silicon Labs to equip customers with superior tools for developing and managing the vast array of connected devices that shape our daily lives,” said François Baldassari, CEO of Memfault. “The EFR32 and EFM32 MCUs offer diverse connectivity options and high performance, empowering developers to tackle increasingly complex firmware and hardware challenges.”
