Silicon Labs Launches Series 2 Wireless Gecko – Scalable, Secure IoT Connectivity for Next‑Gen Devices

Silicon Labs has unveiled Series 2 of its Wireless Gecko platform, delivering a next‑generation solution that’s more powerful, efficient and reliable than ever. Built on the flagship RF and multiprotocol strengths of the Gecko family, Series 2 is the industry’s most versatile and scalable IoT connectivity platform. The first SoCs feature a dedicated security core and an on‑chip radio that extends wireless range by 2.5× compared to competing options.

IoT developers constantly juggle trade‑offs among range, power, size, security and cost. Series 2 simplifies these decisions with highly integrated SoC options and reusable software that make RF communication more dependable and energy‑efficient. It empowers designers to optimize system cost and performance across a wide spectrum of smart‑home, commercial and industrial applications.

Early releases in the Series 2 lineup include the EFR32MG21 SoCs, which support multiprotocol, Zigbee, Thread and Bluetooth Mesh networking, and the EFR32BG21 SoCs, dedicated to Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Mesh.
