Secure 32‑bit Wi‑Fi MCU Module Pre‑Provisioned for Cloud Connectivity
Microchip Technology has unveiled the WFI32E01PC, an integrated 32‑bit Wi‑Fi microcontroller module that comes pre‑provisioned with its Trust&GO secure identity platform, simplifying cloud onboarding for IIoT and consumer devices.
As the IoT ecosystem expands from simple home automation to sophisticated building controls—HVAC, garage doors, industrial machinery—the demand for a single, highly reliable, and secure connectivity solution has never been higher.
Designed for industrial‑grade deployments, the WFI32E01PC is a fully certified Wi‑Fi module supporting 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n. It meets Wi‑Fi Alliance (WFA) standards and carries FCC, Industry Canada (IC), and EU RED certifications.
Developers building secure IIoT solutions benefit from the Trust&GO platform embedded in the module, which handles network authentication via a pre‑configured secure element, eliminating the need for custom provisioning.
At its core, the module houses a premium PIC32 MCU, a rich set of peripherals, and a proven hardware‑security stack. This combination delivers both robust Wi‑Fi connectivity and the processing power needed for complex IIoT applications.
“In today’s threat landscape, software encryption alone is insufficient,” says Steve Caldwell, VP of Microchip’s Wireless Service Group. “Devices must possess a hard‑coded, verifiable identity to connect securely to the cloud. The WFI32E01PC is the first factory‑direct, pre‑provisioned MCU with Wi‑Fi that delivers this capability.”
Beyond industrial use, the module also excels in home‑automation, consumer electronics, and embedded computing. Pairing the WFI32E01PC with Microchip’s Ethernet PHYs (KSZ8081), CAN transceivers (MCP2542WFD), or other radios (BLE, LoRa, IEEE 802.15.4) yields a comprehensive IoT solution.

The WFI32E01PC includes the PIC32MZW1 Curiosity Board, which is pre‑qualified for AWS IoT Core and listed in the AWS partner device catalog. The board ships with an out‑of‑the‑box demo that registers with AWS IoT Core and demonstrates Alexa Voice Service (AVS) interaction, along with sample code, Wi‑Fi software, and the MPLAB Harmony v3 network stack.
Supported by Microchip’s MPLAB X IDE, MPLAB Harmony v3, and on‑board debugging tools, the module accelerates development and reduces time‑to‑market. The 54‑pin SMD version (24.5 × 20.5 × 2.5 mm) is available in 10 000‑unit minimum lots, priced from $8.14. Optional external‑antenna variants and a non‑Trust&GO version are also offered.
