Qorvo Launches Compact Wi‑Fi 6 Dev Kit with Integrated IoT Protocols
Qorvo has introduced its newest Wi‑Fi 6 development kit, the QPK8642, designed to deliver unmatched performance in the smallest footprint while seamlessly supporting key IoT protocols.
Built on Qorvo’s vision of a smart home where a dedicated hub resides in every room, the QPK8642 bundles three high‑performance 5 GHz filters (QPQ1903, QPQ1904, QPF4551) and a 2.4 GHz filter (QPF7219). Together with the QPG7015M IoT transceiver, the kit handles simultaneous Wi‑Fi, Zigbee, Thread, and Bluetooth Low Energy traffic without cross‑radio interference.

The QPK8642 incorporates three proprietary Qorvo enhancements that maximize both capacity and range:
- edgeBoost – In the QPF7219 filter, it boosts output power near the band edge, effectively tripling Wi‑Fi capacity.
- bandBoost – With the QPQ1903/QPQ1904 filters and 5‑GHz FEMs, it enables tri‑band designs up to 20× smaller than conventional solutions.
- coexBoost – Embedded in the QPG7015M transceiver, it provides robust IoT connectivity and superior coexistence with in‑box Wi‑Fi radios.
Qorvo plans to make the QPK8642 available in Q2 2020.
