DIN 17745 NiFe48Cr: Low-Expansion Alloy for Glass Sealing & Surge Protection
The expansion material NiFe48Cr possesses a relatively low thermal expansion at 450 °C. (Temperature interval RT to 400 °C: coefficient of thermal expansion 9.9 to 10.7 10^-6 K^-1). It is applied for sealings for soft glasses as well as as surge voltage protection. The alloy is of good durability at normal temperatures in air with normal weather conditions as well as in fresh water and sea water. NiFe48Cr is well weldable by using the tungsten inert-gas method and is also applied as welding filler material.
