AlCuMg1 Alloy (DIN 1725-1 Grade 3.1325 H14): High-Strength, Heat-Resistant Aluminum Solution
The alloy AlCuMg1 belongs to the type of alloy (AlCuMg type), which found of the aluminum wrought machine materials as first in the technology use. Alloys of this type are cold and warm hardenable. They reach thereby high mechanical strength and are relatively heat resistant even in soft condition. In the cold-hardened condition this alloy reaches strength grades to maximally F 41. Warm ageing is not in practice usual for reasons of the corrosion resistance worsening this condition. Even in the cold-hardened condition a surface protection is necessary. It is disadvantageous, that even the smallest mistake in heat treatment results in decreasing of strength as well as the bad ability for hot forming and difficult weldability of this alloy. Its particularly good splinter-giving workability is remarkable, whereby screws and rivets are suitable for joining elements. Due to the high strength the alloy AlCuMg1 is particularly well suitable for construction units, which are exposed to higher static loading. Heat treatment for hardening: solution annealing: 495 to 505 °C, quenching in water cold ageing: 5 to 8 d at ambient temperature hot ageing: 16 to 24 h at 180 to 195 °C Application: In mechanical engineering (including building of forms) for machine tables, hydraulic turned parts, for tools, devices (baseplates, head and stamp retaining plates as well as guide plates). Furthermore as joining elements (screws, solid rivets), in the automobile engineering as bumpers, as axle box cases, as body and safety-related parts and in the transportation for air freight containers as well as in the aircraft construction.
