EN 1652 CuZn40 R340: High-Strength, Low-Conductivity Wrought Copper Alloy
CuZn40 (CW509L) is an unhardenable wrought alloy. High hardness and strength parameter are achievable by cold forming only. Thermal and electrical conductivity are lower than for CuZn37. Corrosion resistance is similar to pure copper. Processing properties: warm forming: very good cold forming: good machinability: moderately hard soldering: good soft soldering: very good TIG-welding: moderately burnishing: very good CuZn40 is used for hot-pressed forgings, metal fitting and lock components, for nipple wire, condenser bottoms and watchcases.
