Colloids Launches Graphened Masterbatches for Advanced Thermoplastic Applications

Colloids Ltd, the United Kingdom’s leading masterbatch supplier and a subsidiary of Israel’s Tosaf Group (U.S. office in Bessemer, N.C.), has unveiled its new Graphanced line of graphene‑reinforced thermoplastic masterbatches. Over the past seven years, Colloids has partnered with the National Graphene Institute in Manchester to evaluate and integrate high‑grade graphene from the world’s top producers, enabling the creation of cutting‑edge polymer composites.

The Graphanced series covers a broad spectrum of base resins—including polyolefins, polystyrene, SAN, nylons 6 & 66, PET, PBT, PC, EMA, TPEs, and TPUs—providing manufacturers with a single, scalable solution to dramatically improve mechanical, electrical, and thermal performance. Future development targets high‑end polymers such as PEEK and PPS.

Graphene’s unique attributes—atom‑thin structure, exceptional strength (up to 130 GPa), stiffness surpassing diamond, and superior conductivity—translate directly into products that are lighter, stronger, and more energy‑efficient. By incorporating graphene at the masterbatch level, Colloids delivers consistent dispersion and reproducible properties across large‑scale production.

With a decade of research and a robust collaboration network, Colloids now offers custom graphene masterbatch solutions that empower customers worldwide to achieve unprecedented performance gains while maintaining cost‑effectiveness and production reliability.

“Developing these masterbatches was challenging, but the results demonstrate the transformative potential of graphene in everyday polymers,” says Marios Michailidis, Product Development Manager. Michailidis, who earned his Ph.D. in nanomaterials and nanocomposite formulations, has led the team that turned graphene’s laboratory promise into commercial reality.

Looking ahead, Colloids plans to establish a dedicated graphene‑masterbatch facility in North America. For inquiries or technical support, contact Nick Walker, North American Sales Manager, at 713‑703‑1965 or nick_walker@colloids.com.
