Markforged Firmware Update Adds Material‑Level Alerts and Cloud‑Based Slicing
Markforged has released a new firmware update today, bringing two key enhancements that improve print reliability and streamline your workflow.
Out‑of‑Material Warning
Before a job starts, the printer now checks the amount of material on your spool and alerts you if there isn’t enough to finish the part. When you load nylon or fiber, the load utility presents a “How full is the spool you’re loading?” screen. Select “Full Spool” if the cartridge is completely full. For a partial spool, weigh the cartridge and enter its weight in grams so the printer can accurately calculate the available material.

Whether you print from Eiger, via USB, or from the print queue, the system will verify material levels before starting. If the check fails, a warning dialog appears and the job is halted.

Cloud‑Based Slicing for Enterprise Users
Enterprise customers now benefit from cloud slicing in Eiger. Slicing is performed on our high‑performance servers, freeing your local machine for other tasks and delivering faster job preparation.
The “Cloud Slicing” toggle in Eiger is on by default, but you can easily switch between cloud and local slicing. You can also queue additional parts to slice automatically once the current job finishes.
