Schunk Introduces Co‑act EGL‑C: 450 N Gripping Force for Safe Human‑Robot Collaboration

German gripping system manufacturer Schunk, with its U.S. office in Morrisville, N.C., has unveiled the Co‑act EGL‑C long‑stroke gripper, capable of delivering gripping forces up to 450 N—over three times the 140 N limit typical of most collaborative grippers.

Schunk attributes this enhanced performance to an integrated, patent‑pending safety algorithm that protects operators working alongside cobots. By maintaining a safe interaction envelope, the gripper enables human‑robot teams to handle heavier parts and assemblies that were previously out of reach.

The Co‑act EGL‑C builds on Schunk’s 2019 EGH Co‑act line, offering a freely programmable stroke that can be commissioned and programmed quickly, thanks to the company’s integrated intelligence platform.

Schunk’s long history of precision gripping solutions, coupled with its commitment to operator safety, positions the EGL‑C as a reliable choice for advanced automation tasks.
