piCOBOT: Lightweight Vacuum Gripper for Cobots – Up to 15.5 lb Lift, Universal Robots Certified

Piab has introduced the piCOBOT, a compact vacuum gripper engineered for collaborative robots (cobots). Despite its lightweight profile, it can lift up to 15.5 lb (7 kg), making it ideal for a wide range of pick‑and‑place tasks.

Designed as a plug‑and‑play end‑of‑arm tool, the piCOBOT is compatible with every cobot arm. It is already certified by Universal Robots for use on their cobots, ensuring seamless integration and reliable performance.

The development kit includes a high‑capacity vacuum pump, the piCOBOT gripper, and two suction cups. The standard kit offers four suction‑cup sets tailored to common applications, while Piab’s extensive catalogue allows customers to select custom cups for specialized needs.

Gripper arms span 3.8–5.6 in (9.7–14.3 cm) and can tilt ±15°, providing flexibility for various object orientations. Each arm can hold two suction cups, or the gripper can be replaced by a single cup mounted directly on the pump unit for tighter workspace constraints.

The entire assembly is only 2.7 in (6.9 cm) tall, weighs 18 oz (511 g), and the gripper adds a further 7.4 oz (210 g). This low profile and minimal weight make the piCOBOT easy to mount on lightweight cobot arms without compromising payload capacity.
