Sepro Launches MED Series: Clean‑Room‑Ready Robots for Medical & Pharmaceutical Production

Sepro Group’s new MED Series—comprising 3‑, 5‑, and 6‑axis robots—addresses the escalating demand for automation in clean rooms and other sensitive environments found in medical and pharmaceutical molding plants.

According to Claude Bernard, product marketing director at Sepro, the MED Series is engineered for full‑line deployment within a clean room, from assembly to inspection, traceability, and packaging. Each robot features FDA‑approved lubrication on all linear guiding surfaces and gearing, ensuring no contaminating oils are released during operation. Cables are routed through conduits, and all robot surfaces are finished in a smooth, medical‑grade white paint with minimal ornamentation to prevent dust accumulation and simplify cleaning.

Only clean‑grade materials are used in components that contact molded parts—such as end‑of‑arm tooling—while any areas requiring grease or lubrication are fully enclosed, preventing escape into the production zone. The 5X MED models include a two‑axis servo wrist, providing five numerically controlled axes of motion. S5 Line MED robots feature three servo‑driven axes and a pneumatic wrist. Optional 0.3‑micron pneumatic filtration is available on all models.

The 5X MED and S5 Line MED ranges are offered in three sizes to accommodate molding machines with clamping forces from 30 to 800 tons. Payload capacities (part plus tooling) range from 5 kg (11 lb) to 20 kg (44 lb). Installation options include conventional transverse or space‑saving axial layouts.

6‑Axis Robots

In partnership with Stäubli Robotics, the Sepro 6X MED 6‑axis servo‑articulated‑arm robots are described as “inherently clean.” Standard Stäubli arms are ISO 5 (Class 100) certified without modification, and Sepro’s 6X MED robots can surpass the cleanliness achievable with injection molding. Laminar airflow enables floor or ceiling‑mounted side‑entry installations that meet ISO 7 and 8 requirements. Four models serve molding machines ranging from 20 to 1,300 tons.
